Is it the stoned heads or the tenderness of a village?

This happened during our Thekkady trip sometime back. For its always true the saying - 'normal is boring', we took an unheard route from Thekkady while coming back; ...just for a thrill.
We turned left from the usual state highway from a place near Pooppara.

For a good stretch of road, we din't find any vehicle nor street light.. nor shops.. why more... we found no human settlement there... just the woods!!
After an hour,  gradually it began to change.. small villages.. junctions... and everything came to normal.
We stopped to relax by a small village(Mullakkaanam). By then, it was late night. I locked the car and stepped out. Arun had left his phone inside the car and asked me the key so. Huh.. I gradually realized that shocker... I locked the car with the key inside!!! Stranded...! We looked around with our mobile light for any piece of wire, rods... or any thingy that could come handy then.. Nothing paid off...

Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light... It wasn't a Hotel California but a toddy shop... :-) We asked for help there... All those tripped were at our help immediately... It was a good crowd.. All turned Edison, throwing great ideas to open the door... But the consensus among them was to break the glass...!!! It was a no-no for us or atleast the last resort.

A good old man came up with the idea of waking the lone workshop man of the village. He turned the Messiah for us that night. I told him, just a strong malleable rod/wire is enough, as I knew opening the door isn't a big deal if you have the right tools. One among them offered that he would get an appropriate rod from a construction site there. So we waited there just to see him bring a big iron rod that can even break open to loot a strongly locked shop!!! Huff.. then our messiah took us(Arun and I) to the workshop man, while Sen and Sujith stayed back just to ensure that the tripped heads don't indulge in breaking the glass... :-) The workshop man was already asleep when we knocked his door. His wife opened the door and expressed the discomfort. But our messiah was smart enough to convince them that it is the pride of the village to help these youths!!!! He heeded... and managed a copper wire and a set of screw drivers, came along with us and opened the door. Joyous; Sen and Sujith partied with them at the toddy shop... Arun and I stayed back, as I was driving.

After the party we received a warm send off from them; and they even asked us to come again.. :-)
